A couple quick tips to sampling the most on a roadfood eating tour.
- [*]Most eating tours require you to fly to your destination – Avoid eating anything (airplane food, breakfast, etc) while enroute.[*]Avoid ordering the same exact item throughout the day to avoid fatigue. I learned that the hard way by going to 13 ice creameries in a single day. My body couldn’t handle the sugar highs and lows. The next day I went to another 13, but had a few hot dogs and pizza slices in between and felt much better.[*]Order about 1/2 the amount you think you need. If you love it, order some more. If you feel guilty about wasting food, then share with friends or tell the waitperson it is the 5th meal of the day and you want smaller portions. That usually gets the conversation going as to what you are doing, which can lead to some fun experiences.[*]Don’t eat any unnecessary meals. It always surprises me when I see people eating the hotel buffet/breakfast before an eating tour. Avoid the temptation to eat ANYTHING that isn’t roadfood. That also includes rolls, bread, and other pre-meal condiments.
Looking forward to the trip in two weeks. We just got a couple of surprises confirmed. I can assure you this will be another unforgettable trip.
