Hotel occupancy and restaurant taxes, which are usually set at the county or city level, are not usually considered Sales and Use tax and don’t show up as such in a search.
In Horry County I did find something called the Hospitality Fee that is listed as 2.5%, but can vary from 1.5 – 3% depending on the location of your business in the county. The 2.5% fee seems to be the standard which in addition to the state 5% sales tax would add up to 7.5% mentioned. I have found any information on an increase in the fee.
The fee applies to food prep, transient accomodations, admissions to amusements and car rentals.
