I know some guys who make air compressors out of my old propane tanks. I’m sure they work, but I sure wouldn’t be in the same room with one!
Never realized U where in Cal-I-Forn-I-A… Ya, heard about some of your pollution laws out there, but glad to say, ain’t been there and ain’t done it! Surprised you can have a woodstove, unless your an outlaw like a few others out here… Heck, with as little as California gets, just save and dry out your corncobs for a heat source! If your doing a homebrew unit, just make sure you have welds on all the upper corners nice and tight… That and a CO2 detector in the house never hurt anyone either.. Are you in the mountains looking for heat or someone at sea level that just gets a chill??
