So Jimmy D's has taken the spot of the former Rong Tan's on Ohio 125 just outside of I-275. This is the same group that ran the pub at Day's Inn on Mount Carmel-Tabasco that had a not-so-great reputation.
But while I was never at the old spot, I'm very impressed with this edition.
I met a friend of mine there a few weeks ago, and the intention was to have one beer and head somewhere else. We ended up staying there all night, largely because of the huge order of loaded fries we ordered. They were firm enough to support the chili and other toppings, and all of the toppings were plentiful and delicious.
I was so impressed that I took my wife there the next weekend, and I got a 10-inch pizza while she got the burger. Both were excellent. The pizza is almost a Minnesota style…piled high with toppings in the middle but somehow done enough so the entire thing is hot. The sauce could've used a little more flavor if I had to nit-pick, but that's my inner Chicagoan speaking.
Her burger was huge and she was very impressed. Medium rare meant medium rare, which isn't always the case, and she only ate half because of its size.
We also got the buffalo bites appetizer. Wow. Basically mini egg rolls with chicken and buffalo sauce plus cheese and ranch inside, and they were really good.
Got the wings the next week and they were above average but nothing special.
Overall I definitely recommend this place, although it's definitely a bar first, a sports bar second and a restaurant third. Not an issue for me, but it could be for someone who wants to bring a couple of kids for dinner at 7 p.m.
