I've never had a Bahama Mama sausage from Schmidts in Columbus, so when I saw that UDF has them (temporarily) for 1.99 (and 2 for 3.00) each right now, I jumped at the chance to try one
Yes, I doubt a sausage off the roller grills at UDF could possibly be remotely as good as if I got one at Schmidts, but it saves me a lot of gas and money to go to UDF rather than making a day trip to Columbus
Its a bit longer and about 50% wider than a typical hot dog, very smooth texture very similar to a hot dog, more spices, and a little heat that slowly builds with each bite. Very juicy and dripping with fatty goodness, and I mean that in a good way. I am sure it'd be better grilled, but it is what it is :-) I'd definitely get this again, but I dont know how long they will have them. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it is an Oktoberfest-y type promotion, gone by late October or early Nov
JJs sell them pre-cooked in five packs for about $6. You can get regular or cheesy. They're both awesome, especially on a grill.
But still not as good as the Columbus version.
