Alpine has several decent eateries(I don’t know what kitschy means). Several years ago I enjoyed a memorable meal at the Reata. Google Alpine, Tx. Chamber of Commerce, visitor info., restaurants and plan your assault. Alpine is your best bet if traveling north to south. Try to go see the "Marfa(Tx) lights". Again, google.
