There is much debate on the best pizza in NYC. my preference is Difara’s in Midwood, Brooklyn (Ave J and East 15th St.). beyond that, there’s all sorts of expensive artisanal pizzas that don’t even come close to Dominic Dimarco’s (the pizzaola at Difara’s and the only person who will ever make your pizza there) soulfull, delicious creations. he uses a mix of 5 different cheeses (fiore di latte, fresh mozzarella, mozzarella di buffala, grand pidana, and parmigiano regiano), San Marzano tomatoes, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fresh oregano and basil. it’s a masterfull pie that has few peers in nyc. and each pie is made by hand by the master himself. it’s a shrek from manhattan, but well worth the hassle.
