I voted diners mainly because we are consciously going into small town downtowns and seeking out local flare. It could be a pub bar & grill as well. When in these places I seek what is more local such as the white fish we had in Grand Marais, MI on the Upper Peninsula. White fish is rarely served in Minneapolis/St. Paul but is also on the Minnesota North Shore of Lake Superior.

I have the Stern’s Road Food books and keep them in our camper van but really haven’t used them for preparation. It is more fun to seek and take your chance with the unknown.
