Jello is the dessert of NY. Jello has a NY pedigree as it was developed in LeRoy NY in the 19th Century. New York can’t claim to have invented apple pie or cheesecake, but they can claim Jello. Although Jello is now owned by Kraft, its roots and a good deal of Jello history is solidly rooted in NY. Nothing else even comes close.
Since NY does not seem to have an "official" dessert, I suggest all New York Roadfooders contact their legislators and demand Jello become the official New York State Dessert. When doing this do not specify a flavor, let them argue about it as this is what we want.
Downstate people should demand that only Jello with cheesecake bits suspended in it should be official, Upstate people should demand that only Jello with apple pie bits suspended in it should be official. The idea here is not to get an official dessert, but to tie up the legislature so badly in heated trivial debate, they will not have time to raise taxes, pass stupid laws or further degrade the state with other harmful senseless legislation.
Believe me, I know this idea will work if enough New Yorkers get behind it. All these political animals care about is appearing to be doing something other than partying in the local Albany bars. Why not engage them in harmless senseless legislation that will hurt no one?
Write that Jello letter today to your legislator! The budget you save may be your own.
