I’m 2 outta 3, but that’s a new term. Whassit mean?
I thanks for the Q. I love a chance to be pedantic. I said Cavalier (I guess that’s the missing one 4U) because of the heritage in southern MD/Northern VA of the "cavaliers" who came from England. Sort of ne’re do wells of wealthy British families who set out to make their fortunes in America.
Regarding regions in US, I recommend David Fisher’s excellent book "Albion’s Seed" which traces the various cultural lineages in the USA from various subcultures in England (now New England, PA, Southern highlands/Appalachia and Southern Lowland – coastal VA, NC, SC, GA). His thesis is that these strains continue today in politics, etc. He has a chapter on Foodways for each of these groups. I think someone else recently mentioned this book on RF.
Anyhow, I’ll call the South my favorite, but I would dearly love exposure to the Rust Belt! I enjoy trying new foods, especially localized or ethnic.
