I voted for the Kaiser/hard roll. There’s nothing wrong with a white bun, but I got turned off by the term "standard white…" It reminded me of some generic bleach white floured bun. I guess I’m surprised that the standard white bun had the most votes, considering how passionate everyone is about only eating high quality ingredients. Surely, the meat is important, but given the fact that a hamburger is in fact a sandwich, and it is widely recognized that the bread is a very important component to a sandwich, it surpise me that ~40% of us would rather go for "standard white bun" rather than something with a little more flavor and substance.
Of course, one can read the statistics in a way that says 58% of us would rather have something more interesting than white bread/bun. I’m still shocked that on average, 2 of every 5 of us are satisfied with "standard white buns." But it does explain why the grocery store stocks up on it.
It makes me wonder if people feel the same about hot dog buns.
