A few facts about Argentina that few Americans know:
1) It is twice the size of France, Germany, and Italy combined. (Blame that pesky Mercator Projection[;)]).
2) It has always been a land of immense agricultural and mineral wealth and had – in the early years of the 20th. Century – a higher GDP than either France or Germany.
3) It rivals (or exceeds) the United States in citizens of Italian heritage. And, as the state religion of Argentina was (and is) Roman Catholicism, they received significant waves of Italian immigration well before the United States.
So, I am very willing to consider Argentina as the true Mother of Pizza.[;)]
For those of you who have never thought of vacationing in Argentina (or Brazil or Chile) you really are missing a splendid experience. Fear not, they are “safe” and “clean”; the hotels and restaurants rival any to be found anywhere. And, as their summer is our winter, a two week vacation December – February is absolutely guaranteed to cure your seasonal affective disorder! Otherwise, there is always Gary, Indiana.
