I find sucking on a Werther’s or Wilbur Bud very soothing. Having that delicious caramel or chocolate slowly make its way around your mouth and down your throat is nice. Crunching doesn’t do it for me. I chew gum, but only after meals. I believe it helps my digestion, but maybe it is just in my head. So I guess gum chewing is soothing when I am really full.

As far as alcohol goes, I find it quite soothing as well. A cold beer is great after a long hot commute home is fantastic. Wine is also soothing, but not just the drinking part of it. My hubby is quite a wine geek, and I really like all the rituals that go with opening and drinking a bottle of wine. The pop of the cork, the swirling, the sniffing. Very, very, very soothing.

Good topic!!!
