Hello All,
Thanks to all who have written thus far.
Discovered in Virginia, we must must have a lawyer and
the court will also appoint a lawyer for my son, which
will probably be paid in my court costs. My son will
also be evaluated by experts and our house visited and
judged worthy or whatever by court appointed representatives.
I talked to a gentleman who often represents the young adults
who is appointed by the courts and he said the average costs
for the parents are between $2000 to $3000.
On one hand it bites me that I have to do this, but on the
other hand it is good that the courts are looking out for
disabled people’s welfare.
If I don’t do this, the state would literally take my son
out of my household and place him in an instituion. That
is not going to happen. So I will jump through their hoops
and pay whatever I have to.
He is worth every penny I have to pay.
Take Care,
Fieldthistle
