Inspired by this thread although I usually don’t like tuna except for yellow fin steaks, I just had a very tasty tuna melt and cream soda at a true Manhattan road food place, "Eisenberg’s Sandwich", across from the Flatiron building on 5th avenue between 22nd and 23rd streets (174 Fifth Ave). Not a pretty place (but what good roadfood establishment is). Newspaper clippings in the window tout their tuna as the best in NYC, and they call themselves the gathering spot for cabbies. I will go back to sample some of the rest of their interesting menu (Kosher Jumbo Franks & Beans on Monday and Wednesday, Meat Loaf with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy on Tuesday and Thursday plus a wide variety of sandwiches and soups).
