Its liable to get worse b4 it gets better, once your vehicle is registered commercial it becomes exempt from regular inspection (or it did when I lived there) but and its a BIG but… you can be randomly inspected on the road and the requirements can be horrendous, everything from road flares or triangles to the gvw needing to be posted in a certain size on the vehicle and a log book etc,etc. If there’s a marker light out on any part of the rig or the inspector doesn’t like the look of your trailers bearing cap the rig can be grounded inplace until fixed.
A lot of roads require that commercial vehicles stay in the right lane unless passing and many communites restrict parking commercially tagged vehicles
Granted its been almost 20 yrs since Ive lived in NJ and things may have changed but I seriously doubt its for the better.
