I was back at Tower Dogs today. They’re thinking of doing some kind of special t-shirt for anyone who eats one of every hot dog. I think there’s 17 of them on the regular menu, unless you count that you can get 4 different types of dogs, then that would make a hell of a lot more.
This is the Cookout Dog. Special for this month.
It’s a dog wrapped in bacon with their own potato salad on top.
I can’t remember last time, but this time they toasted the bun. I liked the degree of toastyness/flavor it brought, only problem is the bottom of the dog broke open before I even took a bite.
The potato salad was made with hash brown like potatoes. I think the size works good on a hot dog instead of big potato chunks. I saw egg, paprika, green onions, and tasted a lot of celery. It was lightly dressed, not a thick mayo covering it. It was probably mayo just less than I’d normally used and thinned out a little. It had no salt that I could taste. While on top of a hot dog, the dog and the bacon counter act that there’s no salt on the potato salad, but if you were to eat the salad alone (such as what fell off my bun) you’d need a light sprinkle of salt.
