So Tower Dogs opened yesterday. The forums here weren’t working, so I couldn’t come back and update my topic.
Famous Chili Dog – Toasted bun, spicy brown mustard, chili, onions, scallions:
Royale Dog – Toasted bun, sunny side up egg, chipotle ketchup, salt, pepper:
I spoke with what I think was either one of the owners or manager, not sure. I asked him about the dogs. They’re made in California specially for them. 100% beef, no fillers, only minimal nitrates, which he mentioned celery salt being the main thing. They were very meaty, flavorful, not overly salty. My only ding is the hot dogs were a little tough/chewy in texture. Older people might take issue with this. You could also opt for a Chicken Sausage, Bratwurst, or Falafel instead of a dog.
There was a lot of chili on my dog, but the bun held up like a champion. I was surprised! The chili is not spicy at all. It’s pretty much just a meat sauce, with a very tiny bit of sweetness. Texture was good. Didn’t have any crunchy bits of meat to get caught in your teeth. Had a smooth consistency. I liked it, just wish it was spicy.
