As a diner, it’s also the worst night of the year. For some reason, even top notch restaurants put out sub-par fare on Valentine’s Day, and the service generally sucks.

A couple of years ago we invited a group of 8 out to one of our favorite high-end Mexican restaurants. The dinner was absolute crap, we barely saw our server, and we were embarassed. We never went back, even though we had had several good dinners in prior visits.

Sounds like a bad night all around. Restaurants putting out minimal effort, poor service, and lesser food for annoying diners.

We’re fortunate enough to go to our club nowdays for Valentine’s Day. We know the servers, and they know all the members, so it’s just like any other night.
