I grew up in Miami, and my best friend had parents from Sicily.. Her mom and dad always called their sauce, Gravy.. So, I dont think its a NY/Jersey thing either.
I think its just an Italian thing….as my Italian friend from Boston calls it gravy.
Of course, what do I know anyway?…[;)]
