In the 1980s, my husband and I used to go to the Toddle House on Lee Highway in Arlington, VA for Saturday breakfasts. The only thing I ever had there was the waffle. Although a thick, “Belgian”-style (and I prefer thin ones), it was light and airy, almost like a popover.
