Thank you, bb! It was definitely the Hilltop in Rochester that started the steak salad! It came in this gigantic glass bowl that had iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber slices, onion and blue cheese crumbles. Then the steak and the fries. Then you poured the dressing over the whole thing.
Jerry’s was a carhop place and I never, ever saw anyone get a salad there. You mostly went for burgers or hot dogs and fries. And a milkshake.
