I was going to take lleechef to Melt for lunch today, but then I looked down at my WWWJD bracelet and thought, Whoops! I guess not. Dale might find out.
I strongly approve of all hipster and chef driven restaurants when you’re eating local. Hell I do the same. But when I travel? Frankly, I’d rather have a salad, it’s healthier.
Chef driven restaurants don’t serve great salads? I had a wonderful mixed green salad with all kinds of beets when I was in South Boston. One of the best salads ever was in Calistoga, CA………it had all kinds of great ingredients, topped with a grilled quail. I doubt that one of the third cooks made those up.
Oh, I would never turn down a great salad, but unless I’m eating a Cobb, Cesar or Chinese chicken Salad in Southern California, a topopo salad in Tucson, Dutch Lettuce in Central Iowa or a BBQ Salad in Arkansas or one of those “anything goes” salad bars in the heartland then I will only eat my salad locally (and that includes Snail Salad and Calamari Salad)
