Hey, I’ll have you know that Bucyrus, Ohio is listed as the Bratwurst Capital of America. In fact, that’s where they have the Bratwurst Festival each summer.
Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival
Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio
Downtown Streets (Sandusky Ave.)
August 14 – 16, 2008
Recognized the world over as the "Bratwurst Capital of America." Perfected by local butchers whose families emigrated here from Germany. Bucyrus Bratwurst is "different" because the recipe varies from maker to maker, and has been given the special touch, which makes it unique. Tons and tons of open fire roasted Bratwurst are consumed. Round this out with continuous free entertainment, a fabulous crafts show, art show, rides, games, beer gardens and plenty of warmth, friendship and hospitality. Thursday and Friday Parades are at 7pm and the Queen s Parade is on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. Hours: Noon to 11pm Thurs. & Fri. Sat. is Noon to Midnight. Info: 330 S. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus, OH 44820 419-562-BRAT. http://www.bratfest.org.
In fact, I never heard of Bratwurst till I moved to Ohio in 1971.
