1. I learned to make change in my head beginning at age 12, working in my Dad’s gas station, and to this day I know exactly what’s coming back to me in change before the automatic thingamajig figures it for the clerk.
2. We’re so dependent on our electronics. The Navy no longer teaches celestial navigation, I’m told. It’s all done for them by the satellites. I fear the day those things stop working, which they well could if an enemy sends sat killers after them. What’s to stop them? I can’t imagine all our expensive, haze gray floating stock out there without a sextant and someone who knows how to use it amongst the lot.
3. I shamelessly toss all plastic bags in the trash as I empty the groceries out of them. That "someday I might need them" stuff can turn into a disorder all its own.
