I was once in line behind someone who had probably $150 worth of groceries. The store was running several BOGO’s that week, and you needed a coupon to get the deal. OK, fine. Woman ahead of me has four cans of coffee, with two coupons, meaning she will pay for 2 cans and get 2 free. However, the cashier rings up the total, and customer decides she doesn’t have anough food stamps. So she tells the cashier to deduct one can of coffee, which the cashier does. Customer still doesn’t have enough. Tells cashier to deduct another can of coffee. Customer now has two free cans of coffee, and has paid for NONE. Ok. maybe in the grand scheme of things it’s minor, but it INFURIATED me. SHe was getting everything for free anyway, and she STILL HAD TO SCAM THE STORE!!!
Worse, the cashier let her do it.
As for the ones who get all flustered when you tell them you have the change, I see that all the time. What REALLY gets my goat is when you tell them you have the change, and the roll their eyes at you – like it’s a big imposition, which it only is because they lack basic elementary-leval math skills.
