The big old Wolf gas ranges that were in my first two fire stations. These buildings dated back to the WPA, and I believe I recall hearing that the ranges were bought in the early fifties.

They were the same model with huge oven and lower broiler, except one had 6 burners while the other had a flat griddle in place of the left two burners. I cooked many a delicious thing on those ranges, from road kill venison to my first attempts at breads and rolls. They sealed my lifelong preference for gas cookery after being brought up in a home with all electric.
