I tore out all the cupboards in my kitchen and replaced them with commercial grade stainless steel shelving. I was tired of looking in the dark recesses for items that I could never find! So now, I have no doors or drawers in my kitchen- just tons of shelf space. We took out the wall between the 10’x 10′ kitchen and the 11′ x 10′ dining room and ran the coated shelving all the way down the 21′ wall- and that is where all the dishes and serving platters etc reside (in the dining room area) and I have two large steel grids with shelves for spices and condiments- one is located over my baking rack area and the other is just to the right of my stove. As for pantry items- they all go on a shelving unit by the large opening to the LR and also on another shelf close to the fridge. Open, aiy and I can find everything I need when I need it.
PS- I have a friend who has a large collection of Hot Sauces- and she keeps them on the topmost shelf area of her wooden cabinets- sort of like decoration but she does use them for all sorts of things. They can be reached with a "grocery grabber" quite easily.
