Officially…I believe it’s a Naval Acronym for "Save Our Ship"…but I prefer "Sh*@t On a Shingle", I’ve also heard "Same Old Saucepan"….[:D]

Nope, there is no such official Navy acronym in connection with the dish.

I was speaking in turns of S.O.S "Save Our Ship" the Naval/Maritime distress call…..not speaking at all towards the SOS (food) we’ve all been posting about. I thought that’s what the poster was asking about……

I am sure however that their is a recipe hanging around in some Chow Hall somewhere labeled SOS or even better "Sh#T On a Shingle" whether or not that’s the "official" name for it or not…..LOL
