The following are my notes from a year ago about Swan River Seafood in Naples. Can’t recommend it highly enough
Just found what ranks as one of the best quality and most enjoyable fish restaurants I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to lots. USS Nemo, aka Swan River Seafood, in Naples FL. Located in a typically nondescript strip mall off of Rt. 41 (Tamiami Trail) a mile or so north of downtown Naples. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera, so can’t post as a restaurant review.
The place is a combination fish market and small restaurant; the three owner/managers are all on premises. Menu (for lunch at least) consists of fresh seafood (both local and out of town) simply prepared. I had unquestionably the best fried grouper I’ve ever had — crisp, grease-free and hot from the fryer, where they must change the oil after every shift. Conch chowder was expertly done, with a nice spicy kick.
Everything else I saw being served — steamed clams (both hard and soft shelled), seafood & pasta dishes, fish sandwiches — looked equally as good as my grouper. Even the plain broccoli side was perfectly done. Service was prompt, friendly and very efficient.
I’d happily eat my way thru the entire menu in consecutive meals. Great, great place. Fairly priced, too
NB: The fish market portion of the enterprise also looked superb and immaculately clean, though much of the product was displayed as pre-cut fillets & steaks rather than whole fish, which I much prefer.
Oops — just noticed that you don’t want seafood. Too bad — this place is great
