I don’t smoke, but I have no problem with people smoking in privately held establishments, i.e. restaurants, bars, etc. It is up to the individual owners to assess the impact of policy, potential legal action, and other issues. If the place OK’s it, then it’s my choice to patronize it or not.

My issue is with smoking in public places, being indoors or outdoors. I think it’s ridiculous to have someone puffing away next to you with impunity while waiting for a train or a cab. Public areas should have designated smoking areas- private should be up to the ownership.
