Yes it does make a difference. It’s a small thing, but every morning my dad got two cups of coffee and two donuts from this place. It was always service with a smile and small talk. The place was sold and my dad continued there for weeks, but there was no recognition and no smile. In addition, they would always under-fill the coffee. Underfilling an inch from the top of a cup that widens at the top was totally unnecessary (even leaving room for cream). After telling the lady every day for two weeks to please fill it up; he stopped going there and went down the street.
It was like I tried to tell the restaurant owners in another post: You cannot be caught being unfriendly or in the act of miserly measuring out food or drink. There are some things that should be a given: Smiles, friendly service, recognition of customers, water on the table …
