Slight digression alert… In this New Englander’s humble opinion… your average clam chowder is better on the East Coast (New England-style, of course) than on the West. Probably because Ipswich clams rule.

I was about to say that Pacific NW fish and chips beats New England’s, but they’re just different. In the NW, go for halibut – a sustainable fish – and in New England, haddock. I never tried fish and chips with salmon, but it just sounds weird. I mean, salmon is so oily to begin with, why fry it? Just sayin’.

And of course, stay away from those fries with stuff on them. Yuck.
