Voters said no to $4 million in parks bonds, no to $12.9 million worth of "homeland security" items such as an upgraded police-fire communication system, and no to a proposal to borrow up to $2 million to help preserve the historic 4th Avenue Theatre downtown.
We had a similar story in my neck of the woods. The town paid a good sum of money to buy a beautiful old theatre, and began restoring it only to have further funds voted down. The place was sold to a private developer recently who hopes to restore it to its former glory. I hope it happens.
