They are Sabrett buns. Until about a year ago Rutt’s used buns from Pechters, which in my opinion are better. The reason they stopped using them is that they have no preservatives and go stale faster. Sabrett is a good quality hot dog bun, as is Rockland Bakery. Jerry’s in Elizabeth also switched from Pechter’s buns to Sabrett. I use Pechter’s occasionally when I feel like driving to their store in Harrison. Rutt’s continues to use the Thumanns deep fryer.
