In my time in Chicago, the only place I went to was the Gale Street Inn, at the suggestion of a co-worker. They were supposedly famous for ribs and crab legs, so thats what I ordered. I never had real BBQ ribs before, but I new this wasn’t it. They were disappointing at the time and since then I’ve real BBQ experience to back up that opinion.

Around the same time, Leon’s BBQ opened a northside shop. We used to smell the smoke when we went to the nearby Hagen-Daz shop. Never got the ribs, as the Gale Street experience left me with the impression that ribs were just chewy, greasy and messy…too bad I hear Leon’s is great.
