First of all, there are at least two Basque Restaurants in the Boise area, there may be other restaurants that have Basque Items on their menu, but I don’t know about them. The first Restaurant is actually in Old Boise- It’s called Gernika. Besides having some excellent Microbrews on tap, they also served some Basque Appetizers and Sandwiches. The other Restaurant called Epi’s is in Meridian. I’ve never been there, but have seen some excellent reviews on the internet. Unfortunately Onati, which I thought was also an excellent restaurant is no longer in business.
I’m very familiar with Idaho and what it has to offer and I do not see the Basque as the only game in Idaho. I’ve also been to Coeur D’Alene. However I was specifically discussing Boise. Most travel guides on Idaho, and even the visitors Bureau highlight Basque culture as a "must" to experience. Honestly, I’ve said it before, I am a strict regionalist. I personally would not go to Boise to eat Italian or Thai food. I can get that else where and in my opinion- and please don’t take offense- it would probably taste better. But again, that is my personal opinion and I’m entitled to it. Peach Pie-please don’t be so sensitive- What would happen to you if you ever visited NYC, Philly or Boston! Did you ever see the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode. Alot of people thought that was funny and that it doesn’t happen in real life- TRUST ME!!! Here in the North East it does- And regardless, they all stay in business and do heckuva a lot of business too!
