When I lived in Pittsburgh- Halushki was everywhere- bars, restaurants, deli’s supermarkets, you name it. Women in my office used to bring it in for lunch on a daily basis. When I tried to explain that Halushki was a "regional dish" there must have been at least 5 "nebby yinzers" (if you’re from Pittsburgh you’ll know what that means) who insisted that Halushki was "All American"
Then again, what do I know, up until I graduated college, I thought knishes were "All American" and sold everywhere around the country.
