When I was a kid my favorite beer was Duquesne ("Duke – The Prince of Pilsners") It was brewed by the Duquesne Brewing Company of Pittsburgh; they also brewed an excellent lager: Silver Top.
The Pittsburgh Brewing Company after several trips to bankruptcy is still brewing Iron City and IC Light, both of which I’ve recently seen available in Dallas!
At Christmas-time they also brew Olde Frothingslosh – the pale, stale ale with the foam on the bottom. In my youth Pittsburgh morning radio was dominated by Cordic & Co. Rege Cordic used to run fake commercials for the brew and eventually PBC actually produced it as a "holiday treat" and issued a different can each year.
If you are from the Pittsburgh of that era this should bring both a laugh and a tear for the more innocent, genteel (i.e., pre-Howard Stern) days now forever gone: http://www.drtechnical.com/cordic.htm The most risque thing that Cordic would ever say was, on cold winter days, "Didn’t see any brass monkeys out there this morning!".
