If you want to take a little bit of a drive to Port Richmond section of Philly, the old Polish section, there are two places that are very good.
3370 Tilton Street – Philadelphia, PA 19134 215.423.1707
This place has some of the best that we have had along with unbeliveable pierogis and breakfast sausages. Check their website for the variety of "tailgate ready" pierogis. We love the following:
Pepperoni and cheddar
Loaded Baked Potato
Jalepeno and cheeses
Meat and Mushroom and onions
Bacon and cheddar
*** Because they are a small family run place and all items are hand made you must put your order in at least three days in advance.
3623 Salmon Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134 215.634.0820
Really good Kielbasa as well and about 1 mile down the road from Czwers if you wanted to compare for yourself.
If you are going to go to these places you are very close to a lot of other famous eateries and markets if you want to make a day of it. We go to Czwers and Swiacki’s about once every three months and load up.
There is aslo a Polish deli new to the area of Phillipsburg, NJ which is decent. Going out further if you really want a long drive is Leonard’s by Wilkes Barre, PA – very good meats!
