I missed it. What hath Jon Stewart wrought?
My comment didn’t mean all America loves Paris. I mean we worship wealth and celebrity in general instead of excellence. Chains over mom-n-pop if you will…..

Paris Hilton is a classic sympton of what is wrong with America. By being wealthy, allegedly attractive in a laminated sort of way, and allowing a home video of her and a boyfriend in flagrante delicto to make the rounds on the internet, she gets to indulge her narcissistic penchant for being famous.
In other words, she’s a celebrity despite never having done a thing worth celebrating.
As someone on another board (www.dealmac.com) succinctly put it, Paris Hilton is a "skank ho". But please don’t blame all America for her skankiness. Sure she has her fans but I bet there are more people who laugh at her than lust after her. Personally, I’m always glad to see the rigid, government-set limits of what can be broadcast stretched a bit, but I’d rather see them stretched by the likes of The Daily Show (as they were Monday night to a degree that made even my jaw drop) than by the likes of Paris.
