Last time I was in KC I was down at Fred P. Otts. Enjoyed it more than G. Bretts. It has a great character. The funny thing was I recognized the Bartender (Jim?) who I worked with at the OP Houston’s. He recognized me and even remembered my name…pretty cool.
Yeah, I worked at the Metcalf Houston’s back in 85-86 as a Waiter and Bartender. It was a lot of fun to work there. I worked with a lot of KU students so finding a group to party with after work wasn’t a problem.
Most of the time we got out of there by 11:30 so we would walk across the parking lot to Bennigan’s, where the bar was open till 1AM, then head over the state line to close down the 3AM bars, after that it was back to someones apartment complex for a late night swim, etc. to finish out the night. Too many times I rolled into the driveway at 6:30 or 7:00, just as my neighbors were heading off to work![}:)]
Sorry to hear Westport has gone downhill. Used to go down there for great live music and plenty of good times.
Back to restaurants, is Margaritas still around? As I recall, the food there was plentiful and pretty good. And, of course, we’ve discussed In-A-Tub Tacos! [:p]
