The Fish House in Frisco on the soundside is classic roadfood. A tidy little bungalow of a place with a definite list to the right once you step inside and a marker on the wall indicating height of the storm surge of a hurricane. Expertly fried seafood and excellent sides. Very good indeed.

Sam & Omie’s in Nag’s Head is a tradition not to be missed.

You know I haven’t been there in a few years. We used to love it and you’re right, it more than most places down there has a definite roadfood feel about it. One problem is that it is ALWAYS really crowded. We used to solve that problem by getting carryout dinners from there. This was back when it was called Billy’s Fish House. It must have been when they changed owners and it changed to just the Fish House that they stopped doing carryout. We haven’t been there since.
