There was for many years a strong tie between Col. Sanders and a bunch of Utah Folks. Kinda funny when you think about it. One doesn’t link the Southern Religious types with the LDS Utah culture…But it seemed to work out that way. For years the Corporate leadership of the Sanders Empire was A stronghold for LDS Business grads.
I was awarded my "Commission" as a member of the "Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels" (A charitable Organization) by the former head of KFC, The (former) Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, John Y. Brown. He left the organization to run for Governor, as KFC became more involved in the Pepsi Corporate structure. His wife, Former Miss America or USA, Phylis George Brown headed her own brand of Chicken products under the label " Chicken by George"
Today, The former KFC Headquarters in Louisville is the center for the YUM Corporate offices. This is basically the ‘food’ side of the PEPSI Kingdom.
And while we are looking at the Colonel , remember Mrs. Sanders. her Chicken House in Shelbyville,KY is a good step above the regular Chicken Store, and well worth a stop for a nice sit-down dinner.
