In the upper part of the Maine coast (Down East) it is not fish cakes served at Breakfast, it is Fish Hash. Exactly the same as corned beef with leftover fish, cooked in Bacon Fat and Salt Pork. What a memory.
There used to be a restaurant in Old Saybrook, Connecticut called Pat’s Kountry Kitchen where they served clam hash. I believe it was even in a Roadfood book at one time.
