What ever: Jewish Delis are still alive and doing well. We intend to try a new one every time we go to NYC. We are going to Barney’s for lunch next month………….before a late dinner at Luger’s !
As a native New Yorker, who has many connections to hundreds of locals, I just don’t knowof any locals that say “hey, lets’ go to a deli” back in the 70’s and maybe the 80’s yes. But not any more. Nowadays it’s let’s do Thai, Sushi, a burger, even pizza is still popular. I know I’m announcing “the emperor has no clothes” but it’s a fact. The only recent surge in interest by locals was the Carnegie and that’s only because it was closing after nearly 80 years in business
