9 deli’s- I think they just simply named all the deli’s left in NYC (including the boroughs) a population of well over 10 million.
You paint a grim picture Dale. I’d just wish one similar to any one on the list or on the list of Italian heroes would open here.
It’s grim but real. I think the only one they didn’t name was Ben’s Best in Rego Park- my only experience there nearly 10 years ago was downright awful.
WJ,
I read an interesting article a few month ago that stated that there were a few over 40 Jewish Delis left in New York City so I did a little research. Here is a list of those that I came up with………………..I have been to two of them.
Lox (at the Jewish Museum and a wonderful museum to visit)
Fine and Schapiro
Sable’s Smoked Fish (This is the other one that I have been to……amazingly good sable)
Ben’s Deli
Barney Greengrass
Arties
Gottlieb’s
Murry’s Sturgeon Shop (next on my list)
Harry and Ida’s
Ben’s Kosher Deli
Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop
