I just hope that you are prepared for the probable onslaught of replies that will imply that you are un-American, or a leftist, or… While most people now accept that some govenment intervention is called for in the case of dangerous products (and there is a wealth of information about the dangers of transfats), there are those who feel that businesses, both big and small, should be able to do whatever they wish to do.

you’re a piece of work Ted.

how about stating your ideas on the subject, instead using supposition regarding how others, possibly with differing viewpoints, will react?

you’re so ready to tell us how "others" will react, yet you fail to bring any intellectual thought to the table yourself.

here’s my thought. Trans fat oils are bad. Restaurants should stop using them. Instead wasting money creating a law, lets use the money for education, advertising, forums, and other avenues before bringing the gov’t into it. Let’s have the people make a move without letting the gov’t interfere. Because, as we all know, the bill to restrict trans fat oils will include a whole bunch of other crap, which we also don’t necessarily need regulation on, just so that every politician can have their name on the bill, or their personal addendum. All in the name od comprimise.

It’s much quicker to use advertising. Like those Truth commercials on smoking. Which, IMO, is much more effective than banning smoking in a bar, when you want to end smoking.

It’s not that legislation couldn’t be beneficial, but it sets a precedence that the gov’t will get more deeply involved in what Americans are allowed to eat. So, let’s use legislation as a last resort instead of as the impetus.

Thanks for your usual personal attack. As usual, stating something that is fairly innocuous, but that may run counter to your opinions, results in…hell, never mind…why should I waste my time?

Clearly, free speech is not something that you value. I refuse to allow your problems to become my problems.

Have a good day.
