I haven’t yet been to Hallo Berlin. Do you know where they get their sausages from? I’ve heard that it is Schaller & Weber. For those of you who may be interested, tomorrow (Sun May 29th)there will be a Maifest at The Old Bay Restaurant at 61-63 Church St. in New Brunswick, right off rt 27 near Rutgers. Admission of $10.00 includes a buffet consisting of Assorted Grilled Sausages (including bratwurst), Saurkraut, German Potato Salad, Roasted Pork with beer sauce, Sauerbraten, Braised Red Cabbage and Apples, Potato Pancakes, Pretzel Crusted Chicken, Black Forest Cake, as well as your first beer. They serve quality imported beer and micros on tap. Known as a Cajun restaurant with one of the better beer bars in the area. They will also have live German music.Last year the sausages were from Schaller & Weber. I’ll be going and I hope to see some of you there. A great time if you like beer and German food. I’ll be wearing a Roadfood tee shirt.
I was only there a couple of times, so I am unsure of the answer to your question. The article in THAT paper [;)] said their dogs were from Karl Ehmer, perhaps the sausages are from the same place. KArl Ehmer products are good, but I usually go to the Forest Pork Store for my German style franks and sausages. It is a bit further than Karl Ehmer, so it depends how much time I have.
That Maifest sounds good…I may have to see if I can get over there! Thanks for the tip!
