My favorite nuts are pinenuts.

Every year we go out into the hills and collect them. We make it a weekend family and friends camping trip.

We eat well, we drink a bit, listen tomusic, dance, etc. Generally have a great time.

Also get really filthy, as pine sap is real sticky, in most of the good areas the soil is red and sandy, between that and the pine sap, we all end up really pitchy.

The secret is to wear old clothes that can be "pitched" before going into the house, and using lard to clean the pitch off the body before bathing.

Pine nuts are great raw, boiled, baked, etc. Used for just eating, in recipes, making into a flour to be used in baking or other cooking.

They taste great, have sort of a sweet piney taste.
